What Is Imperial Mochi?

Mochi is made from mochigome (Japanese glutinous rice) — pounded into a smooth, elastic dough and shaped into soft, round balls. Formosa Yay’s Imperial Mochi uses a premium glutinous rice shell with a generous black sesame filling: roasted black sesame seeds ground into a thick, aromatic paste — similar to tahini but made from toasted seeds, giving it a deeper, richer flavor and a thicker consistency. Sweetened just enough to balance the natural depth of the sesame.
