About Lotte

Lotte was founded in 1948 in Tokyo by Shin Kyuk-ho, a South Korean entrepreneur who began by selling chewing gum in post-war Japan. The company’s name comes from Charlotte, the heroine of Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther — their corporate motto, “Sweetheart of Your Mouth,” reflects that same spirit of being universally loved.
